Hello beautiful souls, It's Rigo here, sharing a piece of my heart and journey with you all. In this fast-paced digital world, it's so easy to get caught up in the whirlwind of social media, notifications, and endless streams of information. But sometimes, we need to step back, disconnect, and recharge our minds and souls. Today, I want to delve deep into a trend that's gaining momentum, especially among the Gen Z and Millennial folks - the rejuvenating practice of a "Digital Detox".


Growing up as a Hispanic individual, I faced numerous challenges, including the societal pressure and stigma attached to acknowledging and seeking help for mental health issues. A few years ago, I experienced a series of anxiety and panic attacks that even led to minor cardiac issues. It was a wake-up call, a signal that something needed to change.


 


The Awakening: My Personal Journey to Healing 🌈

I realized that part of my healing process involved taking a step back from the digital chaos that engulfed me daily. It was not easy, especially given the nature of our work here at Nomad Journey. But I knew it was necessary. I started to allocate specific times of the day where I would disconnect from all digital platforms, giving myself the space to breathe, to reconnect with my inner self, and to simply be.


Personal Note:

I cannot emphasize enough how this practice helped me regain my mental peace. It allowed me to focus on creating blog posts, a process that not only kept me engaged but also fueled my creativity, helping me combat the demons of depression and anxiety that often lurked in the shadows.

The Gen Z and Millennial Connection: A Call to Awareness 📵

It's no secret that the younger generation is more connected to the digital world than ever before. But this constant connectivity comes with its own set of challenges. According to a recent article by The New York Times, individuals are rethinking their approach to social media and digital connectivity, aiming to find a balance that allows for mental peace and well-being.


Personal Note: I've seen firsthand how my wonderful team at Nomad Journey strives to maintain this balance. We often share our experiences and tips on how to effectively unplug and recharge. I want to take a moment to emphasize the importance of seeking help when needed. It's okay to admit that we are struggling. It's okay to seek therapy and counseling to learn coping skills and strategies to navigate the complexities of life. I personally have found immense relief and support in working with my therapist, learning how to effectively use digital detox as a tool to maintain my mental health.


Personal Note:

I want to share with you all that being Hispanic played a significant role in my hesitation to seek help initially. The fear of judgment and the societal expectations weighed heavily on me. But I want to tell you that it's okay to break free from these stigmas. Your mental health is important, and seeking help is a sign of strength, not weakness.

Donny: Our Colorado native, with a heart that beats in harmony with the mountains, finds his ultimate joy in the great outdoors. When he's not crafting engaging blog posts, he's embracing the serene landscapes of his home state, capturing the beauty through his lens.
